"Buddies4Math offers Castro at-risk students the opportunity to experience math as a recreational activity, not just a class at school. Dedicated volunteers from local middle and high schools work in small group activities in math concepts and applications with third and fourth graders every Friday afternoon. Our students look forward to the session and it's amazing to see how excited and engaged they are in math. Not only has the program changed student's attitudes and improved their confidence about math, but their math achievement on state tests has also improved. Our Latino students gained 64 points on the API last year, contributing to a 43 point gain for the school."

Champions of After School Award for Buddies4math

On Wednesday, October 22 the city of San Jose hosted the 8th annual Breakfast of Champions in the City Hall Rotunda in collaboration with the Santa Clara County After-School Collaborative. This event honored select organizations who work throughout Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties with the Breakfast of Champions Award.

 Buddies4math was awarded the Breakfast of Champions Award for exemplary contribution and commitment to the success of after school programing. Congratulations to the Buddies4math Team for their dedication and commitment to helping students and creating an outstanding after school program. We were the only student organization to win the Award.

We would like to thank Erika Navarro, Beyond The Bell Supervisor for nominating us for the Award.

Kudos to Auston Lee !

Auston Lee has been awarded the  Gunn @ Your Service 2014 Social Entrepreneurs Award. He used his Gunn Grant to purchase math manipulatives and games for Buddies4Math.This is Gunn @ Your Service’s second year supporting this project.
